Which schools are eligible to receive the Grant?
Grants are available to all public or private, accredited, not-for-profit educational institutions, authorized homeschoolers, museums, and libraries involved in K–12, college, university, vocational and technical instruction or administration. SMARTer Kids Grants are available to qualifying institutions located in the United States and Canada. Projects that include locations outside these areas will require special approval from the Foundation. Apply Now

Homeschoolers must supplement their application form with a copy of the letter of intent or registration form that was submitted to the local school board or department of education declaring the intent to homeschool. Additionally we require a copy of the confirmation letter from the school board or Department of Education acknowledging the applicant has declared homeschooling as the primary method for instruction. What is the Grant amount?

A Grant amount of 20 to 70 percent of the suggested list price is awarded on a per unit basis for qualifying SMART products. Apply Now

For what products will the Foundation provide Grants?
Grants are provided for SMART Board interactive whiteboard and optional Floor Stands, Rear Projection SMART Board interactive whiteboards, SMART Board for Flat-Panel Displays interactive overlays, Sympodium interactive lectern and integration modules, Expression cabinets, LightRaise projector and mount, Camfire whiteboard cameras, SMART X-Port switches, SMART Ideas, Bridgit, and SynchronEyes software. What is the deadline for applying for and utilizing a SMARTer Kids Grant?
Applications for a 2004-2005 SMARTer Kids Grant may be submitted to the Foundation at any time prior to midnight, September 30, 2005. Applications will be processed and Grants awarded as received. Recipients have until October 31, 2005, to use their Grants, after which time their 2004-2005 Grants will expire. However, applications received between August 1, 2005, and September 30, 2005, for which a Grant has been approved, but not used, will be automatically reprocessed and approved by the Foundation under the new guidelines for the 2005-2006 Grant year. How does the Foundation decide how Grants will be awarded?
You must submit a completed Grant application that includes a written description of your intended use of SMART products and reasons for requesting a Grant. If your institution is a museum, library or science center, or if you think there may be some question about its eligibility, please provide sufficient details to allow us to make the proper assessment. A Grant Application Committee will evaluate applications and award Grants based on the application. Apply Now

The Grant approval process requires an authorized reseller to be specified. You may select the reseller with whom you prefer to work by naming your Preferred Reselling Partner on the application. If an appropriate reseller is not indicated on the Grant application, the Foundation will choose a reseller for you. The reseller assigned is the only reseller that is authorized to process your SMARTer Kids Grant. Apply Now


How will I know if my Grant application is approved?
The Foundation will notify you of the committee's decision by fax or e-mail. The Foundation will use its reasonable best efforts to notify you within 15 working days if your application is received online. Faxed or e-mailed applications will be processed within fifteen working days. If awarded, this letter will state your Grant approval number and the name of the reseller who has been authorized to process your SMARTer Kids Grant. If the Preferred Reselling Partner indicated is incorrect, please call the Foundation immediately to request a correction. Apply Now

What is the next step after the Grant is approved?
Upon approval of your Grant, the Foundation will also notify your Preferred Reselling Partner, who will then contact you to discuss your product requirements and assist you with the purchase of your SMART products. Apply Now

How do I use the Grant?
The Grant amount per unit will be netted on your invoice presented by your Preferred Reselling Partner at the time of purchase. Your Grant is not redeemable for cash. You may use any portion of the Grant amount and multiple purchase orders are acceptable. Apply Now

How can I amend my Grant award?
Educational institutions awarded a Grant may request to amend the volume or model of SMART products for which they were approved. Amendment requests must be submitted in writing to the Foundation by the original Grant applicant. Download this amendment request form and  e-mail it to info@smarterkids.org. Apply Now

Will a product price or Grant percentage change affect my Grant award?
In the event of a list price decrease on any qualifying SMART product or a Grant percentage change before the Grant has been utilized, the Foundation reserves the right to decrease the Grant amount awarded. Should this situation occur, the net amount that you would pay would not be greater than the original net amount, exclusive of taxes, shipping, training and installation costs, if any. Apply Now

To whom do I send my purchase order?
Please submit your purchase order to your Preferred Reselling Partner, being sure to indicate your SMARTer Kids Grant number. Your Preferred Reselling Partner will invoice you for the list price of the SMART product less the Grant amount applicable per product. Apply Now

Are there any other costs associated with the purchase?
Your Preferred Reselling Partner may add taxes, shipping, installation and training costs, as you may both agree. Apply Now

What support is available from the reseller authorized to process my Grant?
Your Preferred Reselling Partner will help you determine the SMARTe products that best meet your needs. In addition, the Preferred Reselling Partner can help with the completion of the Grant application and coordinate the delivery and setup of your SMART products. Apply Now

A SMARTer Kids Grant can be used to leverage opportunities for grants from other sources. You are encouraged to seek matching grants that will further reduce the cost of purchasing SMART products for your institution Apply Now
